The civic association MSM GROUP ĽUDOM is once again helping where it truly matters. Thanks to its financial support, the hospital in Ilava will be able to revitalize the premises of its histology and cytology laboratory, an essential workplace in the diagnosis of oncological diseases.
The Ilava hospital serves residents of Dubnica nad Váhom, where the ZVS holding plant from the MSM GROUP employs more than a thousand people. Many employees and their families live in Ilava and the surrounding area or rely on its healthcare services. Supporting the hospital therefore also means supporting the health of our colleagues, their families, friends, and the entire community we are part of.
Equipment Fit for the 21st Century
The histology and cytology laboratory in Ilava plays a key role in diagnosing cancer and other diseases, yet for decades it has operated in facilities and with equipment dating back to the 1960s. “We want to help improve the working conditions of the specialists who make daily decisions about the health of patients, including our employees and their families. The department has achieved excellent professional results, but the premises they work in have long prevented them from functioning at the level their important work deserves,” said Lenka Smreková, COO of MSM GROUP, who presented the hospital with a symbolic cheque worth €20,000.
The hospital’s Department of Pathological Anatomy, which includes the laboratory, is among the smaller units, yet in recent years it has introduced several modern diagnostic methods, from immunohistochemical testing to enzyme tests for food intolerances, which previously were not performed at the hospital. “We work with the instruments and technologies of the 21st century, but in premises that resemble museum pieces from the last century. The donated funds will greatly help us with the overall revitalization of the department, replacing furniture and laboratory tables, and modernizing the spaces where we, as employees, want to feel comfortable, educate students of medical schools, and – last but not least – present a professional environment for patients who personally bring us material for examination,” said Zuzana Betáková, senior laboratory technician of the Department of Pathological Anatomy, upon receiving the symbolic cheque.
Helping hospitals is not a one-time effort
In recent months, we similarly supported the hospital in Snina, where a €40,000 donation funded new equipment for operating rooms and the rehabilitation department, significantly improving the quality of healthcare in the region. Our support for Ilava is therefore a natural next step and proof that our assistance is systematic and long-term, and that our commitment to regional communities continues.
The civic association MSM GROUP ĽUDOM supports not only healthcare but also education and community projects in the regions where MSM GROUP companies operate, and where financial aid can directly and positively impact people’s lives. In Slovakia, our assistance is focused mainly on the areas around Dubnica nad Váhom and Snina – home to ZVS holding plants and around VOP Nováky.
